365 days of happy – february 2017

DAY 32

Almost 3 years ago I was working at a particular position, which required a building ID pass. Fast forward to this past week getting a new job that happened to be for the same company, in that same building, but in a different department & office. After over a week, I was finally granted permission to go get my ID photo taken today. Hurray! No more asking to be escorted to the bathroom like I am in second grade anymore! And that’s not even the happy moment for the day… The security clerk asks me in a chuckle if I liked my shirt. Confused, I say yes and proceed to smile for the photo. He flips the screen around and behold! My photo from 3 years ago’s pass: me wearing the same top! ha ha. We both got a great chuckle, and I returned to work as a pass-holding adult.

DAY 33

Today’s was a little late because I went to bed early in the most excruciating pain I have ever had in my life, and that’s saying something since I’ve previously been hit by a car, had an ovary explode, and an emergency appendectomy before. The minute he got home from work he was all over it, tending to me to make sure I was okay, as comfortable as possible, and even offered to sit with me in the ER for several uncomfortable hours. I’ve really got a good one 💕

DAY 34

Finally got around to pulling out my planner and writing out my date and appointments for February so far, and to my surprise there’s a very interesting date this year… Gave me a good chuckle 😜

DAY 35

I got to spend the evening with my grandparents and uncles and cousins during my great-aunts surprise birthday party and it’s been the most fun I’ve had in weeks. I love my grandparents like a second set of parents and I haven’t seen them since we went to visit them in Kapuskasing this summer. I am so glad they made the trip from Florida to see us 💕

Day 36

Today is our anniversary and it has been an amazing day filled with fun things and happy moments! We had our wedding food tasting at the venue today, and enjoyed a beautiful hike through the falling snowflakes to get there. Then we got to enjoy making an amazing meal together, ate our candle-light dinner, and got to do some dancing for the first time in a while. Sometimes we don’t realize how happy we truly are until we do, and it is an amazing feeling!

Day 37

A little intimate insight into my life for today’s happy moments… Every night before we go to bed, we look into each other’s eyes and think about how much we love each other just before turning off he light. It usually leads to huge smiles which causes squinty eyes and we often end up making funny faces to make our eyes open more, which leads to more laughter and squinty smiles. The circle of happiness if I do say so myself 😉

Day 38

This may not be a big deal to many of you, but I’ve never been the type to let #debt accumulate. At all. I hate it! It’s so much pressure!

Lately with all my expenses from having to replace my 18 year old car, the upcoming wedding, and the fact that I blew through my savings two year ago whilst unemployed and investing in my businesses, I had gotten myself into quite the pickle. Thank goodness for credit cards to feed myself while income went to rent! But it started piling up and so did the stress the higher it got. As of today, I have a zero balance on all of my credit sources, with savings to spare. The stress of always working and having two full time jobs is finally paying off–literally! I am so happy to finally be able to put money aside again for my retirement fund and the down payment for our first home together. I can finally breathe again and actually start planning my future ☺️💕

Happy birthday to my one and only! While it might have been his special day, it was filled with happy moments for me too 💕

Sometimes you need to treat your life like a blank canvas to have fun and fully enjoy it. I got a call from a friend asking me to come over for game night (long overdue!) and it was a pleasure to drop everything and go. Coming from me, the advanced planner, that’s something! I had a fun night; learnt a crazy new game called Mysterium and had a blast! Cheers to the unplanned happy moments 🥂

Today’s happy moment is quite simple but profound: the head splitting migraine I’ve had all week is finally gone!

Day 43

Super exciting day with all this crazy snow, but we safely made it out to our nail appointment to get our nails done and a well-deserved pedicure. We both got a different take on the classic french manicure. Her with the shellac and white tip, and me with an ombre finish on my gel acrylic nails. They are beautiful! I wanted to try them out before the wedding to make sure they were functional and pretty, and boy is it going to be hard to not keep them forever. I love spending time with my bestie; our adventures are always filled with happy moments and enough laughter to fill the room.

It might seem simple, but since the mister has been doing the majority of the cooking for the last few months, it’s a great feeling when you hear him make squeals of joy from the recipes you have him try out. Happiness is definitely contagious 😉

Day 45

Those of you who know me know how much of an opinion I have about today, but just because I don’t agree with the commercialisation of emotions, doesn’t mean I don’t squeal with joy at the sentiment of him buying me flowers and pouring me wine. My guy is amazing, there’s no disputing that, so I’ve come around to enjoying the day, but there’s nothing that makes me happier than to see how much HE enjoys doing all these valentines things. So I let him. And I enjoy every minute of it 💕

Day 46

Every day I am so thankful for these two magical products. I would not be able to sleep without my goldbond body lotion, and my dry winter lips are made magically soft and kissable by my @burtsbeesca lip balm. Amazing. That is all.

Day 47

Being a creative and a wife and a business owner and entrepreneur and an employee is hard work! I can’t even imagine doing what I do with kids. You mommas are crazy amazing! The thing that gets me through the rough patches is knowing that I don’t have to be afraid to be myself, funny idioms and silly faces and all. It’s ME and there’s no shame in that! and I am proud of my accomplishments. You should be too! Today I feel encouraged and I want to share my positive energy. Here is my best impression of the super-excited-yet-scared-shitless emotion that comes with running a business. Or 3 in my case! Let’s see yours!

​​I am so stoked for the approaching warm weather! Today I was actually able to go from my car to my house without a hat! For someone who is allergic to the cold, that is fantastic! And my face didn’t feel like a giant solid block of ice either 😁

Found the perfect chair for our wedding today! Super excited to have found that perfect dusty colour! It’s borrowed, old AND blue! How cool 😉

Day 50

I love my job. There’s no two ways about it. Being a newborn photographer is so rewarding; being able to provide what I do for parents is amazing. Today was a little different because I got to work with a local business woman, with whom I getogether on a regular basis. That extra personal connection today was amazing. It really makes you second guess social media and wonder why personal networking meetings and socials went out of style..? And it makes me feel so thankful that I have my community that focuses on building each other up.

Day 51

Today is our special diner to celebrate our anniversary and Valentine’s Day since we kind of had to skip the fancy dinners both times. Since I have been eating keto for the last 4 months, eating out is nothing short of impossible. We treated ourselves to a personal chef coming to our home to help us celebrate and it has been an amazing experience. Back to my wine, and I’ll write all about it in its own post on the blog… 😉💐😍💕🍽🍷🎂

Today I solidified plans to have a stop-motion video from my wedding, and I could not be more stoked! Not only do we get a gorgeous album and wall art from our photos, but now we get a fun video to share too! I cannot wait!

My boyfriend never writes about me on Facebook, or any other social account for that matter since he doesn’t have them. He doesn’t post sappy stories or cutesy photos of us. He doesn’t tell everyone how much he loves me, ever.

AND I DONT CARE! Why not? Because he does all of that for me privately, and that’s all I could ever ask for. A long hug and loving kiss on the forehead beats a public declaration any day, hands down! And I can look forward to this sweet-as-hell daily text exchange any time we are apart 💕 — something so simple, yet keeps that flame burning…
