Our adventure to reupholster vintage chairs began so we could have beautiful and unique chairs to sit upon at our wedding reception’s sweetheart table, and it was a roaring success! And let me tell you that when I say vintage, I mean super authentic and really old! How old, you ask? Check out the ‘cushion’ that we found beneath the fabric! Yep, that’s straw! And yes, my dad helped and supplied the power tools…

Explaining Concussions Through Body Paintings
When I was first introduced to the ‘A Caged Mind’ project by May Mutter, I was definitely intrigued. The more May told me about her experiences and the truths about concussions, the more I wanted to help. Her idea to create awareness by telling the stories of concussion sufferers through visual representations was something I was very excited to participate in. Her plan was to use her talents as a body painter to showcase the true nature of concussions, each individual telling their own story. View Full Post “A Caged Mind”
There’s no denying that it was super cool to find out I was going to be on the radio. Combined with the nerves, my excitement was evident. Luckily I tend to perform surprisingly well in stressful situations, and while I don’t like to give speeches to crowds, I certainly am a talker! I finally received the audio, and while I am totally guilty of having fast-forwarded to hear my part, the show as a whole was quite interesting to follow. Hearing everyone’s unique weightloss success stories, along with doctor snippets, really gives perspective on the no-diet-fits-all theory. Definitely consult a professional before you dive into something drastically affecting your health, good or bad. Without further ado: the interview about my keto weightloss story. I’m an Imperfect Boss and that’s okay. The important part is that I own my imperfections, my talents, and take longs strides with confidence. Nobody is perfect. I am not nobody. Therefore, I am imperfect. And I am absolutely okay with that! View Full Post “I’m an Imperfect Boss & That’s Okay”
Before I get into the nitty gritty, I want to point out the obvious that the majority of the ketogenic diet is made up of fresh foods that you can find at any supermarket or grocery store: vegetables, meat & fish, seeds, select fruits. Dairy products like cream and butter are also readily available–the trick is to find the ideal ones with less chemicals or additives. As for the other more special or unique products that allow you to hack your way through a keto dessert recipe or experiment with flavors and textures, I’ve got you covered. This is a non exhaustive list of my favourite local Ottawa shops where gather all of my supplies, and a few others that I have yet to try. I would LOVE your input on other hidden gems! The first time it was suggested to me to hire a personal chef for a date night in, my initial reaction was something alone the lines of “Right; cause I’m just made of money..!” and I didn’t give it a second thought. The thing is, now that I have experienced it first hand, it was one of the best date-night experiences I have had in a long time! Let me tell you why. The first post often sets the tone for the entire blog, and frankly I think that is a little boring. Instead, I have decided that I am going to start us off with an off-topic post, which means you will have to ponder and guess as to what the blog is actually about. Since this post has so far been about nothing, the blog could technically be about everything! I thought for hours on what to write about and decided there was nothing good enough to be the first post. The thing is, there is no such thing as perfect in life. There is no perfect time or place to start, no perfect topic, no perfect beginning. So here we are, taking the first step; making the most of what you have and not being afraid to be yourself. Now, onto more blogging in the 613.
