I don't know about you, but with all the warm weat
I don't know about you, but with all the warm weather here the snow has been melting into huge puddles that little miss LOVES spending time in!⠀ ⠀ She loves running and jumping and splashing in them—she is even making reference to her favourite books and tv show where characters do the same!—and it is such a joy to see her brain wheels turn and just enjoy life to its fullest (soaking wet or not!). Does your kid have a favourite food item? Mine LOVES her berries and her olives, but I am fairly confident that her kryptonite is oat milk—we are taking end-of-the-world meltdowns if she doesn't get any once she's locked eyes on it in the fridge!⠀ ⠀ With our recent setback on the dairy ladder (we graduated from step 2, but failed step 3 miserably), we have reintegrated dairy substitutes into our everyday baking and oat milk is our absolute favourite (being allergic to nuts and soy certainly narrows our choices, but I pick it over the others for flavour any day!) so we have restocked the fridge. Instagram vs Reality: Boss Mama in a Pandemic Edition⠀ ⠀ This is how we are made to think like we are allowed to feel: Sure, be 'over it' but don't get upset about it—we all feel it. The thing is, I don't just feel 'kind of over it', I feel extreme rage towards the situation I am in and have no control over. I feel genuine rage, sometimes more sadness than anger, but a fiery rage inside me waiting for any little thing to come pouring out and it is exhausting! But I am made to feel like I need to keep it hidden from the world. I can't do it anymore. Bottling up the isolation, the confinement, the guilt, the anger, the distrust, the paranoia, the depression, the extreme longing for the physical touch of friendship, the non-existen non-mom moments. We were lucky that our first was so easy to conceive and carry to term, so I cannot help but feel extra disappointed that I would be giving birth next month had it worked out again on the first cycle, but instead I find my empty womb 😔 ⠀ ⠀ So every time we embark on another cycle, that has so far always ended in tears, I try to take a moment to appreciate what I have—a beautiful and wonderful baby girl—before my dreams are crushed and I loose all hope, again, but it doesn't take the pain away. Especially when it starts to affect your marriage, ugh. This kid is my world. That smile of hers can brighten even the darkest of moments and I am forever grateful. Especially when she runs towards me with open arms and yells HUUUUUUGGG! It is the sweetest thing 😍 ⠀ ⠀ We were so lucky to be able to play outside yesterday as a family with the weather being so warm (it was PLUS degrees!). Little miss and her daddy even made a snowman complete with a face and limbs, and boy did she LOVE it! I was able to reopen the studio this week and I am so excited to get back to work!⠀ ⠀ I live and breathe my business, so it has been extra hard to swallow the fact that it has been closed for more than half of the past year. Despite how much I love being able to spend extra time with my daughter and watch her grow into a tiny human with a big personality, it is soul-crushing to know I won't make it through another round of lockdowns. So while our government has offered some of us grants and assistance that help minutely, it won't rescue most of us who quality for it. ⠀ ⠀ So I make a vow to spend every damn penny that I possibly can locally at small businesses to keep that money in small business pockets.
