Feeding babies and feeding toddlers are two differ

Feeding babies and feeding toddlers are two different beasts, and our trolley contents have certainly changed over the course of the last year. With the new baby arriving soon, and little miss starting to use regular dishes, it was time to reorganize and take inventory, and the perfect opportunity for me to share my favourite must-have feeding gear for baby's first foods that actually last through to toddlerhood.

First up, the wheeled kitchen trolley. It has been instrumental in keeping everything organized AND within reach no matter where I end up feeding kiddo, and the divider containers helped tremendously. Spoiler Alert! We also have one for the nursery as our diaper station and two in my studio for session supplies & my order packing station.

When is the last time you actually printed your fa

When is the last time you actually printed your family photos? Don't be shy, tell me! And if it has been more than a year tell me WHY!

You may think I am biased as a professional photographer, but I am sure you are also familiar with the "cobbler's children have no shoes" trope. We may be more likely to actually capture the moment, but printing often gets pushed to the side because we are taking care of clients, and we can "do it later" (but later never comes!).

So this is your quarterly reminder to PRINT YOUR PHOTOS because your hard drive or social media could disappear tomorrow and odds are that most of you don't have them backed up. Even the cloud is better than nothing, so do that too! (ps: I've got a referral link to a software that backs up EVERYTHING for less than $100CAD for the year, so send me a DM if you want it).

It doesn't have to be complicated, so I invite you to pick your favourite family photo and print it for the wall. You can frame it, you can print it on a canvas, or you can have it matted (like this one) and simply display it on a shelf. Don't have a 'good enough' photo, then hire a photographer in your area to capture some for you. It is absolutely worth it, I promise!! Seeing our happy faces on the wall every day makes me so happy, and I actually have noticed it as missing since we moved last month and there is nothing on the walls yet.

When your toddler's sole goal in life is to see a big cow, you find one!

Our road trip back from Kapuskasing included driving by the cow status in New Liskeard and ever since, on top of the hour of whining in the car that she wanted to touch it, this kid has asked about the damn cow non-stop. So when I discovered that not only was there one within the Ottawa area, but that it was within walking distance of our new house, I was beyond thrilled. As was she! (Bonus that it lead me to a milk vodka distillery for testing out after the baby is born!)

All to say, when you put your mind to something and you manifest it (and put in a little effort), sometimes it really does find its way into your life.

We have started to introduce little miss to (semi)

We have started to introduce little miss to (semi) organized sports rather than just independent play, and baseball seems to be a fun favourite (especially when you get to whack daddy in the face and laugh it off, oops!). [there’s a reel if you want to see it 🤣]

Adding the challenge of skill and rules to the games really allows her to play in a way where she is learning critical thinking, and the added bonus that it absolutely tires her out so mama gets full use of naptime for running my business (or a nap for myself too; all depends on the day!).

Do you ever get days where your little one is hitt

Do you ever get days where your little one is hitting your every nerve, seemingly on purpose? On those days, especially now that the weather is a little more palatable, I pack a bag and we go exploring. It is especially fun since we just moved to a small town with plenty to discover!

It keeps little miss occupied, burns a ton of energy so that naptime is fruitful, and some of my best ideas are when I am on the go living my life (which is why my dictation tool is so appreciated these days!).

For the first week at our new house, little miss a

For the first week at our new house, little miss asked us every day to "go home" and it broke my heart. Most of the time it was when we said there was no internet and therefore couldn't watch her episodes, but not always...

We then took a week trip to visit my grandparents in Northern Ontario and we made sure to tell her we were going back to our NEW home.

Thankfully that did the trick, and almost a month later she tells us that she likes it here and when we come back from our walks she excitedly screams "that's our home!" as she runs down the driveway and I couldn't be happier.

And clearly neither could she! Just look at that adorable face
