I love this kid and her gorgeously scrunchie smile

I love this kid and her gorgeously scrunchie smiles. Supposedly she mirrors mine and that makes them even more special to me. Especially when it is accompanied by her adorable and room-filling laughter and we enjoy each other's company.

Sometimes it is tough letting a toddler help with tasks because they take so much longer to accomplish, and I need to remind myself that this is how she learns to be a helpful and independent human being. So if taking ten minutes to get the corn ready before we even turn on the element means that we get to spend ten amazing minutes together preparing her favourite food, I take that as a big win.

Toddlers are amazing humans. They are fascinated with such simple tasks that it really makes you have a different outlook on life.

Take plants for example. I know that many of us consider them our plant babies, but this kid takes that to a whole new level—seriously, this spray bottle has caused her the only two injuries that drew blood (once she got her finger stuck and the other somehow got her lip stuck when attempting to drink from it) and yet this is still somehow her most favourite activity in which she takes great care and attention to detail.⠀

See that spot on the mattress. That is a small but very stinky mess courtesy of my toddler, on the UNDER side of the mattress, an hour before we were scheduled to have visitors come see the house. GREEEEEAAAAAT! 💩

Thankfully the cover comes off and we were able to set it to wash while we were gone and just pop a crib sheet over top of the foam like no big deal, and a little jute baggie of baby potpourri hung on the fan further saved the day (thank you @mustela.canada!). 🙌🏻

Another day, another adventure, while we vacate th

Another day, another adventure, while we vacate the house for showings. We got to enjoy delicious made-for-us caffeine and a blister day at a new park since we had access to the car and daddy this time (and it was vacant, hurray!). This kid LOVED the bumblebee ride, especially when daddy helped propel it with a suitable soundtrack, ha ha!

Sometimes it truly does make life that much better to see the good in a not-so-ideal situation. This was a super fun family fun outing (versus seeing it as being kicked out of the house for nothing again) and I am so grateful for all the smiles we were able to experience.

You don't have to share, but I would love for you to think of something you complained about this week, and try and see if you can see something positive about it or something happy that came from it. ⠀

One of the few benefits of having your home on the

One of the few benefits of having your home on the market and strangers trapsing through your home during a pandemic is that you get to have beautiful fresh florals on display every day and enjoy the lovely smell of nature (which helps cover up all the cleaner!).

I even had a friend bring me a bundle of snowballs, my favourite flower second only to peonies (ours haven't bloomed yet), which made the experience a tiny little bit more homey.

And for the real story behind the caption... Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a planner (my brain thinks of all the worst outcomes and prepares for them so that when they do happen, it's smooth sailing), so all this silver lining and positivity stuff has been a huge learning curve for me, but I am trying. I could have complained about all the things I hate about having dozens of strangers in my home every day, all while it being illegal to have one family safely in my home studio to help me pay my bills (although I guess technically that was me doing so just now), but I chose to focus on the joyousness of the flowers instead. All to say, it helps a little bit to focus on the joy, especially before jumping into the negative of things, but don't be afraid to tell the full story.

So even if you are like me and you don't believe in the juju and such, there really is some truth to the "power of positive thinking". What is something positive you have experienced this week?

This year has been a crazy sh*t-show and it is so so important to take the time to enjoy and appreciate the little bits of pure happiness, when the worry actually disappears and you get to just live in the moment.

You would never know by this photo that little miss had just come down from a complete meltdown about not wanting to eat in her high-chair, and we just gave in to eating dinner on the floor because it made her happy (and the screaming stop!). It genuinely made her happy, and since I still got to be off my feet and put food in my belly, so was I. Especially when she started cheering and laughing gleefully that she got to eat on mama's lap. ⠀

The moment you've been waiting for since March is

The moment you've been waiting for since March is finally here! Gone are the 80's gold strip lights and the faux birch cupboards, and a light and bright bathroom refresh is here to stay! > > SWIPE > > to see the final look!

Somehow all of our spring projects have landed on days with beautiful weather. While I much prefer tank top weather to frigid winter days, the task of scraping the paint off of our black garage door in the scorching hot sun was definitely hard work. Buuuut, nothing a sunhat, cold drink, and relaxing back massage won't fix afterward! Especially if it means summer is here early to stay this year!

This kid never ceases to amaze me. She scoured around and found a chair to sit on, asked (insisted actually!) for the spray bottle, and sat there calmly watering HER plants for a half hour. Yup, hers, apparently!

I cannot believe it's been since OCTOBER that I've

I cannot believe it's been since OCTOBER that I've shared a foodscape! This kid still eats like a machine, like a bottomless pit, and seems to burn it all off with that neverending supply of energy she has and I am so happy to share that little miss has officially surpassed the 85% percentile and is no longer on dietician supervision, hurray! She still has her allergies to handle, and dairy ladder restarting soon, but that is a challenge we are happily enjoying. Plus, this pandemic has just sucked all motivation from me and I have just been making sure to keep nutritious food on the table; not what it looks like! ⠀

Yesterday’s sunny morning was short lived but it was absolutely what I needed to escape the funk I’ve been living in the past few weeks. Kiddo and I spent the morning picking wildflowers and repotting plants and I am so proud of how well she participated!
