Introducing new foods to baby can be a daunting task, or a fun challenge depending on how you choose to look at it. With all of the ever-changing guidelines and recommendations and fads out there, it can be super daunting to try and figure out what is best for your baby. While I am no expert, I have spoken with a Registered Dietitian and the additional information I was given was astounding, and reassured me over so many fears that I had from reading all the things on the internet. So I figured I would share a few tidbits along with our journey through food with little miss.

We spent a full 10 days on our honeymoon and I must say that it was a well-needed vacation, and a chance for us to reconnect after a stressful few months with the move to the new house. We did something new and exciting every single day, and took the time to relax when needed. Great company, good food, and a ton of fun. I’ve put together a list of all the cool things we did, where we ate, where we stayed, and gave recommendations and a review where I could. We loved San Francisco, and I highly suggest you add it to your travel list if it is not already there! View Full Post “Honeymoon in San Francisco – Our Trip In Review”

There’s no denying that it was super cool to find out I was going to be on the radio. Combined with the nerves, my excitement was evident. Luckily I tend to perform surprisingly well in stressful situations, and while I don’t like to give speeches to crowds, I certainly am a talker! I finally received the audio, and while I am totally guilty of having fast-forwarded to hear my part, the show as a whole was quite interesting to follow. Hearing everyone’s unique weightloss success stories, along with doctor snippets, really gives perspective on the no-diet-fits-all theory. Definitely consult a professional before you dive into something drastically affecting your health, good or bad. Without further ado: the interview about my keto weightloss story. If you’ve ever been in my company at a cocktail party or luncheon, you know very well that I will be hanging out near the veggies and cheese platters. I mean, it’s cheese! This has not changed since I converted to the ketogenic lifestyle, I just can’t put in on crackers or top with jam anymore. Even the most experienced cheese-eaters like myself who have a knack for visual creativity have trouble designing the perfect cheese platter. So I have sourced this amazing Guide To Setting Up A Cheese Platter infographic for you that explains all you need to do — Enjoy! View Full Post “Beginner’s Guide To Setting Up A Cheese Platter”

Eating keto means you miss out on a lot of breakfast foods. No toast, no cereal, no oatmeal, no fruit. Which pretty much leaves you with eggs & bacon, yogourt, and bulletproof drinks which can get old and boring really fast. Enter ‘NOATMEAL’. Before I get into the nitty gritty, I want to point out the obvious that the majority of the ketogenic diet is made up of fresh foods that you can find at any supermarket or grocery store: vegetables, meat & fish, seeds, select fruits. Dairy products like cream and butter are also readily available–the trick is to find the ideal ones with less chemicals or additives. As for the other more special or unique products that allow you to hack your way through a keto dessert recipe or experiment with flavors and textures, I’ve got you covered. This is a non exhaustive list of my favourite local Ottawa shops where gather all of my supplies, and a few others that I have yet to try. I would LOVE your input on other hidden gems! This low carb dish is the perfect combination of beef and veggies to feel super full, yet not bogged down. And oh my is it delicious! That being said, prepare yourself: it’s a glorified hamburger with mushroom sauce on cauliflower mash..not a steak. I’ve tweaked it a few times here and there to better reflect my taste buds, preferences, and allergies, but the original inspiration goes to Melissa from “I Breathe, I’m Hungry”.

Following the ketogenic lifestyle means giving up a lot of store-bought mayonnaise options, salad dressings and sauces because of how much sugar they contain. That certainly doesn’t mean we can’t have any. This amazing avocado mayo is so versatile, I use it on almost anything! The first time it was suggested to me to hire a personal chef for a date night in, my initial reaction was something alone the lines of “Right; cause I’m just made of money..!” and I didn’t give it a second thought. When I first started keto and they told me I couldn’t have fruit or pasta, knowing that I could still have my beloved alfredo and hollandaise sauce got me through the shock. I adapted the standard recipe to be even more keto, and it is devine!
On the keto diet, smoothies are few and between the rate at which I used to enjoy them, so I’ve been getting creative and coming up with a few low carb smoothies for me to indulge in. The goal was to keep them above 80% fat, and below 10g of carbs. This keto-friendly low carb Matcha raspberry smoothie does not disappoint! It’s the perfectly drinkable consistency too!
